Rural Pre-Med Summit

About this event
If you are considering a career in rural family medicine, the Rural Pre-Med Summit at the University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth campus, is designed to help you become a competitive applicant for medical school.
Participants will hear from rural family medicine physicians about the challenges and rewards of pursuing a career in rural family medicine. Admissions information sessions will give an overview of volunteer/service/medical experiences, the MCAT, AMCAS, your personal statement, and interviews. Current medical students will give their perspectives on the admissions process and life in medical school. Breakout groups will provide hands-on experience related to obstetrics and delivery, heart sounds, digital otoscopes, and anatomy/physiology.
The summit is intended for premedical undergraduates in their sophomore and junior years as well as nontraditional medical students who plan to apply to medical school in one to three years. There is no charge; however, space is limited and registration is required.
The summit programming is from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with doors open at 8:30 a.m. Lunch is provided.
