31st Annual NEMBA Celebration

5/23/19, 5:00 PM

About this event

You are invited to the 31st Annual Northeastern Minnesota Book Awards!

The 31st annual Northeastern Minnesota Book Awards (NEMBA) will be presented at a public celebration on Thursday, May 23, at the Northland Country Club (Save the Date to your calendar) from 5 - 9 p.m. The featured speaker and awards will take place from 6:30-8 p.m.

Books nominated for the 31st annual Northeastern Minnesota Book Awards as well as other titles will be available and on sale at the NEMBA Book Fair for the duration of the event.

This year's speaker, Margi Preus is the author of the Newbery Honor book Heart of a Samurai and other books for young readers, including the Minnesota Book Award-winning West of the Moon, and the Midwest Booksellers Choice Award book The Clue in the Trees, part of the Enchantment Lake mystery series. Her books have won multiple awards, landed on the New York Times bestseller list, been honored as ALA/ALSC Notables, selected as an NPR Backseat Book Club pick, chosen for community reads, and translated into many languages. When not writing, Margi enjoys traveling, speaking, and visiting schools all over the world. At home in Duluth she likes to ski, hike, paddle, or sit quietly with a book in her lap.

Prizes will be awarded in six categories. For a complete list of nominated titles and categories, see the NEMBA website

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Gail Trygstad at 218-726-7889.
